A Prayer for an Intimate Mother's Heart
I want my children to see me cry.
I want them to know that when I am happy, I am really genuinely happy.
I want them to see me fall-apart on bad days.
I even want them to see me decide that I have had enough for a day and binge watch tv.
And I want them to see me slay dragons.
I want them, in their teenage years to say to their friends,
"My mom gets it. You can talk to her."
I want them to say when they are older,
"Our mother is a warrior, she is fierce and courageous and she shows up."
And in the same conversation talk about how,
Whether I succeed or fail, whether I rise or fall, in every moment of every day I want my kids to know that there is a crazy, beautiful, messy, painful, AMAZING thing that we call life and the MOST important thing we can do, is say yes to the ride. Say yes to our heart. Say yes to those tiny whisperings inside. Say yes to the deepest desires of our heart.Show up. No hiding. I want them to know how completely EXPECTED it is to stumble and fall and get bruises along the way. To fall short and yet keep trying again and again.
THIS is what it means to live life unyielded. To live this God given life and experinece TRUE intimacy.
This is what it means to take a stand for myself and claim the joy that is my birthright. It's your birthright too!
Did you ever think about how your ability to give and receive intimacy freely also affects your mothering?
A prayer for an Intimate Mother's Heart:
I know who I really am and I cling to that vision with every fiber of my being. I know my mission, and I show up and say yes.
Let me never say that I didn't give it all I had, because I was afraid.
And in turn, let my children discover their true-identity and their gifts, and purpose, and mission.
