Take Down Your Walls
I have the utmost respect for the couples I have worked with.
I have begun to see this in an even deeper light, EVEN MORE in recent weeks.
They absolutely radiate with compassion and understanding and even accomplish AMAZING things together.
The world would say,
HIDE your secrets and then maybe they don’t exist.
My clients say,
Let's SHARE our secrets and HEAL together.
The world would say,
BURY your pain any way you can.
My clients say,
Let’s share and work THROUGH the pain to create CONNECTION.
The world would say,
Money, fame, climbing the ladder and keeping up with the Jones’ is the definition of SUCCESS.
My clients say,
Even after all that, without TRUE CONNECTION we feel empty. So connection, co-creation and CLOSENESS in marriage is the true definition of success.
And these couples are few and far between to come by. I have only met a handful in my entire life. But they are creating something that MOST OF US ARE UNWILLING TO STRIVE FOR.
Let me give you an example which I will share anonymously, from the real life of a real couple.
She came to me because she felt so terribly alone in her marriage.
The more work we did, we uncovered that she was truly STARVING for CONNECTION.
The deeper we went, and the more success she started seeing in her relationship, the louder the nagging from an untold secret became.
A year prior, she had an emotional affair with a friend.
It seemed innocent, until it wasn't anymore. She had already called it off, but the guilt of what she had done ate away at her.
So, finally, she shared with me what had happened and we created a safe and beautiful environment for her to open up about this with her husband.
I stood in awe as I watched her fight tooth and nail for the connection that she had come to believe, deep in her bones, that she is worthy of!
And she knew that holding back this secret would NOT foster the connection she craved.
Take it from her own words: "It took some time but I’ve learned to tell myself yes and that I’m so worthy of the joy and happiness that I yearn for, especially with my husband! It is still difficult for him to open up with me but it’s been easier for me to open up to him since working with Melisa."
So I have to ask - WHY? -
Why are so few of us willing to let go of our walls? Our secrets? And by default, our pain?
Maybe we don’t think it will work for us.
Maybe we are afraid that “if people really knew me, they wouldn’t love me.”
Or maybe we really like our walls, and our secrets and our pain, because we like the darkness we are choosing.
The fact is, as long as you are unwilling to root these things from your innermost being, you will never have a truly happy marriage.
What holds people back from this pure hearted approach to life and marriage?
What is holding you back?
aRE YOU READY TO TAKE DOWN YOUR WALLS, AND BE FREE TO EXPERIENCE TRUE CONNECTION?
